AI4SMEs project partners meeting and training in Vilnius

From 23 to 25 September, the Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts hosted the AIforSMEs project partner meeting and Train-the-Trainer workshop, bringing together partners from across Europe. The meeting reviewed project progress, financial matters, dissemination activities and introduced the newly developed training modules designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) successfully implement artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.

During the event, participants took part in practical sessions, explored the training programmes and discussed AI ecosystems, European Union regulation and ongoing initiatives. As part of the EU’s Digital Decade, the first AI regulatory framework has been developed, classifying AI technologies according to their risk level. Lithuanian companies developing or implementing AI solutions for the EU market are required to comply with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, which entered into force on 1 August 2024.

To further support businesses, amendments to the Technology and Innovation Act assigned the Lithuanian Innovation Agency the task of establishing a Regulatory AI Sandbox from 14 January 2025. Operating as a one-stop service, the sandbox will provide timely information on AI Act requirements, support tools and guidance to ensure that AI products developed in Lithuania meet the new regulatory standards.

The partners express their sincere gratitude to Goda Strikaitė-Latušinskaja, Legal and AI expert at the Innovation Agency, for her excellent presentation on the Lithuanian AI ecosystem, EU regulation and national initiatives. The programme also included a visit to Cyber City and Nord Security, offering insights into how AI is transforming the field of cybersecurity. Special thanks go to the Nord Security team for their warm welcome, and to Karolis Arbačiauskas, Product Manager of NordPass, for providing clear and valuable perspectives on AI applications from an SME viewpoint.

Beyond the productive working sessions, the partner meeting was enriched with cultural and social activities, giving participants an opportunity to explore Vilnius and better understand Lithuania’s dynamic business environment. The consortium thanks all participants for their active engagement and insightful contributions. The shared experience will further strengthen cooperation and support the successful implementation of the AIforSMEs project.
